Jonas (Thwaites) is a young boy selected for the position of "Receiver of Memories" in a society where everyone lives in a state of samess, rather than have memories or emotions. He works with The Giver (Bridges), an old man who trains him to be the one person to store all the past experience in case a certain kind of knowledge is needed for problem solving. In the process, The Giver tells stories that make Jonas question whether there is more to life than sameness.

Swift is still focusing on her music career despite her work on The Giver. She released her new song Sweeter Than Fiction at midnight on Monday. The song plays during the closing credits of One Chance, a film about Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts. The track was co-written by Jack Antonoff, the guitarist of fun.
