Jessica Simpson's Baby Maxwell Drew Johnson's Photo Sold to People Magazine for $800,000
Jessica Simpson reportedly sold the first photo of her baby daughter Maxwell Drew Johnson to People magazine for $800,000. Women's Wear Daily reported that there was no bidding war between publications. The price for Simpson's baby photo was not as high as other Hollywood superstars.
WWD reported Amy Wicks wrote: "Simpson's deal with People isn't too significant, at least compared to celebrities such as Matthew McConaughey, who sold photos of his newborn son to OK magazine for $3 million, according to reports. When Jennifer Lopez gave birth to twins, she pocketed $6 million from People."
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie reportedly received $4.1 million by the same publication for their first biological child, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt. They received a staggering $11 million for first photos of their twins in 2008.
However, some people are saying that the market for celebrity babies does not exist anymore. Veteran celebrity journalist Jo Piazza told Fashionista. "Magazines realized that it doesn't benefit them to pay over a million."
Simpson's daughter was born May 1 and weighed 9 lbs. 13ounces. Simpson wrote in a statement: "We are so grateful for all the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!!"
