Katy Perry 'By The Grace Of God' Lyrics For Russell Brand, John Mayer Girlfriend Opens Up About Divorce [AUDIO]
Katy Perry addressed her 2012 divorce from Russell Brand in the song By the Grace of God on her new album Prism.
"The lyrics are very exact and autobiographical. That's how I write," she told Entertainment Weekly about the song. "But the one thing about those lyrics is you can hear me finding my strength throughout the song. It starts off really low and then I kind of stand up for myself and say, 'No!'"
She added, "I've been like: 'Snap out of it! It's time to - come on - grow up! No!' There's almost like this inner warfare that comes out, this inner battle between the good angel and the bad devil."

In the slow-paced ballad, Perry recalls her relationship with Brand and sings, "Thought I wasn't enough, found I wasn't so tough laying on the bathroom floor. We were living on a fault line and I felt the fault was all mine."
The 28-year-old and Brand divorced in 2011 after 14 months of marriage. The singer also recently revealed to UK's Sunday Times that after the split she was "in bed for about two weeks" and was "pretty f--ked up."
