Britney Spears Going to NYC for X Factor Presentation
Britney Spears is reportedly heading to New York City this weekend to officially announce her gig as a judge on "The X Factor."
Spears may appear at the FOX Upfront presentation to make the announcement, according to celebrities' site TMZ.
"Britney and FOX both think a personal appearance is essential in creating buzz for the show," the site reports, citing anonymous sources.
There are conflicting reports as to whether Spears signed the $15 million contract or not.
A source told E!Online the contract was signed and the report was also confirmed by the Associated Press.
However, TMZ is reporting that the contract hasn't been signed yet.
The site says Britney will not sign the deal because she's under a conservator ship. Her dad Jamie Spears and fiance Jason Trawick will sign it.
Spears was one of the many celebrities rumored to be interested in filling one of the two judges' seats once held by Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, who were fired earlier this year. But it was Cowell who apparently made the first move to court the 30-year-old pop icon.
"I'm fascinated by Britney," Cowell said in February. "This girl has resilience. I would think that if she's managed to sustain a family, a career, which is tough, (X Factor would be) a walk in the park. I would be fascinated to hear what she has to say. She's still hot, she's still having hit records and she's still controversial. There's a reason for that."
