Adam West, who played Batman in the 1960s television series of the same name, recently admitted that he would like to be part of Man of Steel 2.

Speaking with 13th Dimension about the highly anticipated matchup of Batman and Superman, West quipped that he wanted to play Batman's father in the film.

"Can I tell you something? I keep hearing that I'm going to be [in it but] nobody's contacted me," West said, referring to the online petition to have him appear in the film.

"They don't understand that if I play Batman's father, and one terrible evening, when Batman, Bruce Wayne himself - the young one - is desperate, and the thunder's crashing, the lightning, I come in through the library window, which kind of springs open in the storm and I say, 'Bruce, I'm your father. And at one time I was Batman. I want you to look in that volume over there," he joked.

In other Man of Steel 2 news, Ben Affleck recently admitted that he was hesitant to take on the role of Batman for the highly anticipated sequel. Affleck spoke with 411Mania.com about signing on for the coveted role and what swayed his decision.

"Initially I was reluctant as I felt I didn't fit the traditional mold," Affleck admitted. "But once [director] Zack [Snyder] showed me the concept, and that it would be both different from the great movies that Chris [Nolan] and Christian [Bale] made but still in keeping with tradition I was excited."

Affleck's Batman will be more experienced than the one depicted in the Dark Knight trilogy. The actor said that presenting a new take on Batman is what excited him to do the project.

"Doing something different and new is always tricky and part of the thrill and the risk is that initially it confounds expectations," he explained. "The movie and the execution of it is what all the actors depend on and I believe in Zack's vision."

While Affleck confirmed that the new Batman will be "tired and weary," as had previously been reported, the actor said he didn't want to give anything else away.

Man of Steel 2 is scheduled for release in theaters on July 17, 2015.
