'The Mentalist' Season 6 Spoilers: Red John's Tattoo a Real Clue? Execs Talk Leaving Breadcrumbs For Viewers VIDEO
The Mentalist's Patrick Jane has been racking up clues during the CBI's final push in the Red John investigation.
As the CBS drama nears the potential capture of Red John in his eponymously titled episode 8, Jane (Simon Baker) is pilling up new tips about the serial killer. Thanks to a private eye Red John murdered during "The Red Tattoo," Jane now knows that his elusive nemesis has a three-dot tattoo on his shoulder.
"The Red Tattoo," said executive producer Eoghan Mahony, according to TVLine, "That is a legit clue, and it is a big deal. Now Jane's got his leverage."
Now Lisbon (Robin Tunney) and her CBI team will have to puzzle out a way to get their remaining suspects to reveal their shoulders.
"That is the next step: Now that you know that information, how do you use it in a useful way?" Mahony told TV Line. "You're just going to have to watch the next episode. But you're going to enjoy it a lot. Jane's going to tell the team what he's found, and they're going to ask exactly that: How do we figure out [who has the tattoo]?"
In the meantime, Jane still has to discover how Red John is tied in with the "Tyger, Tyger" law enforcement conspiracy and whether or not any of his suspects apparent aversions (Ray Haffner is afraid of spiders, Sheriff McAllister may be afraid of birds) could be helpful in smoking out the killer.
The Mentalist airs on Sundays at 10 p.m. on CBS.
