'The Hobbit 2: Desolation of Smaug' Live Stream, Watch Online Screening Preview by Peter Jackson Plus New TV Spot [VIDEO}
Director Peter Jackson invited fans for a special preview screening of The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug on Nov. 4 via special satellite linked theaters in Los Angeles, New York, London, and Wellington.
Jackson will be connected with the audience for a Q&A session streamed from his location in New Zealand after footage from the film is screened. The director is currently on location filming The Hobbit: There and Back Again.
Audiences in Brussels, Hamburg, Mexico City, Miami, Paris, Rome, Sydney and Toronto will be able to buy tickets to watch the footage and interviews live in theaters. The event also will be streamed live online.
In the most recently released TV spot for the film, as Bilbo and his troop of dwarfs head toward the Lonely Mountain to reclaim their homeland, there is a whole lot of monster slaying and action sequences, interspersed with warnings to not stir the dragon from his deathly sleep.
Another trailer for the film also alluded to a growing romance between Legolas and Tauriel (Evangeline Lilly). But it seems like this will be a one-sided affair. In one clip, a voice warns Tauriel, "Legolas has grown very fond of you, do not give him hope where there is none." Tauriel, who is an elf, is a new character being introduced in the second installment.
Bard the Bowman (Luke Evans) plays a very key role in this film and the character will be reprised in the next installment, There and Back Again). Legolas will also feature in the last film of the trilogy but the nature of his role, which could also just be a cameo, isn't known yet.
The film also features Beorn (Mikael Persbrandt), who can shift between the form of a man and bear, and Smaug the Dragon (Benedict Cumberbatch).
