Britney Spears announced officially today that she is joining "The X Factor" as a judge.

Spears appeared Monday at Fox' Upfront Presentation in New York City alongside Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and Demi Lovato who was also announced as the fourth judge.

"We delivered," Cowell said Monday, according to the TV Guide. "This has taken a year to get where we got to today and I am thrilled to confirm the return of L.A. Reid, the addition of Demi Lovato and superstar Britney Spears."

“I couldn't be more excited to join THE X FACTOR judging panel. I'm a huge fan of the show and now I get to be a part of the action. Simon and L.A. better watch out!” Spears said in a statement released today.

She also took the microphone at today's event:

"It's going to be so much fun and so different from anything I've ever done."

"I'm ready to find the true star," she reportedly said.

Executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz said “Nobody embodies The X Factor more than Britney – she has shown the world what it means, how to do it and how to sustain it!”

Lovato also addressed the audience.

"It's an honor to be standing next to you," she reportedly said. "I'm excited to represent my generation."

"The X Factor" will air Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on Fox but its premiere show hasn't been announced.

Spears reportedly signed a $15 Million dollar deal with Fox to join one season of the talent competition series. Her appearance was highly reported in the media for months but nothing had been confirmed until today.

Also today, NBC announced that for the first time, it will air its singing competition show “The Voice” in the fall to compete with “The X Factor.”

Cowell addressed this announcement today.

"I'm thrilled that ‘The Voice’ has decided to compete with us," Cowell said."We are going to make this the best series ever made," he added according to the TV Guide.
