The tension was ripe on the "Dancing With the Stars" semifinal show on Monday as the four remaining contestants danced away to fight for their place in the finals next week. The contestants also shared their life stories on the show.

The four finals stars, William Levy, Maria Menounos, Donald Driver and Katherine Jenkins, impressed the judges on all fronts, with judges giving scores of 10 to their fantastic performances.

Co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet commented, "This is probably the strongest group of semifinalists we've ever seen on the show."

Judge Len Goodman said, "I've not been this excited since my mother put me in long trousers."

First to dance away was William Levy and partner Cheryl Burke. They performed a torrid tango, receiving a score of 10 from Bruno, and 9 from Carrie Ann and Len. They racked up 28 points in their first number of the night. Their second dance blew the judges away, with all three giving them a high 10. The pair scored a total of 58.

Katherine Jenkins and partner Mark Ballas danced their "best dance ever", according to Carrie Ann. They received a 9 from Len and 10 from Carrie Ann and Bruno -totaling 29 points. Their second number was a salsa dance, and it appeared that Katherine was struggling with the last move. She later said she felt her lower back go out. She received a score of 9 from all three judges. The pair got a total of 56 for the evening.

Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd performed a waltz in their first number and scored 28 points. Their second dance, a samba, earned them a score of 29. They earned a total of 57 points.

Maria Menounos and Derek Hough danced to the Argentine tango, with Len saying it was "silently fabulous.' The judges were totally blown away by the dance, with all three rewarding them a 10. The second dance was a jive, which gave them a ten from Carrie and Bruno, but a 9 from Len. This made them the highest scorers of the night, with a total of 59.
