It was recently revealed that Robert Pattinson is set to star in The Lost City of Z with Benedict Cumberbatch.

A story in the new issue of Screen Daily revealed that the actor had also signed onto the film, which is being produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B.

Pattinson was also set to star when the film was previously being considered by Paramount for development.

The film, an adaptation of David Grann's book of the same name, which tells the story of the legendary British explorer Percy Fawcett. He disappeared in 1925 with his son in the Amazon while looking for the Ancient Lost City. Explorers and scientists have tried to solve the mystery since then -- looking for evidence of the party and the lost city -- but all in vain.

It is being assumed that Cumberbatch will be playing the role of Fawcett, and some people are sepculating that Pattinson might play his son.

In an interview with Indiewire, Gray said that he was aiming for the As for the tone of the picture, Gray had said to us he's aiming for the epic scale of described it as David Lean (Bridge on the River Kwai, Doctor Zhivago) but with a "slightly more hallucinogenic feel. Because [the protagonist] went to the jungle and sorta went mad."

Cumberbatch gives the voice for Smaug the dragon in the upcoming Hobbitt film, Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, which will release on Dec. 10.

Pattinson will also be starring in David Cronenberg's Maps to the Stars and Jesper Ganslandt Mission: Blacklist, both of which will release in 2014.
