Katy Perry & John Mayer Engaged? 'Roar' Singer Wears Diamond Ring to EMA Awards 2013, PHOTOS
Katy Perry stirred rumors that she may be engaged to longtime boyfriend John Mayer after sporting a diamond band on her ring finger Sunday at the 2013 MTV Europe Music Awards in Amsterdam.
The 29-year-old arrived on the red carpet wearing a form-fitting Zac Posen dress that she paired with a Dolce & Gabbana headband and Charlotte Olympia heels. Mayer, 36, was not by her side, but what took home the attention was the diamond ring on Perry's engagement finger.
The rock reignited rumors that Perry is engaged, though reps for both the Unconditionally singer and Mayer confirmed to E! News that the couple is not walking down the aisle anytime soon.
Perry was married to comedian-actor Russell Brand for two years, from 2010-2012. Mayer has never been married but has a number of famous ex-girlfriends, including Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
Perry and Mayer took their relationship public in the summer of 2012. The couple split in March but rekindled a few months later. The two have collaborated on music together, with Mayer co-writing the bonus track Spiritual off Perry's album, Prism. She also leant her vocals to Who You Love, which appears on Mayer's Paradise Valley record.
"Everyone wants them to get engaged. They are so perfect together," a source recently told E! News, adding that a proposal is "inevitable."
Perry talked about her relationship with the Paper Doll singer with W magazine for its November 2013 issue. She told the publication, "I actually am dating my crush. I had a crush on him for a long time, and it just so happens we fit together great."
She described the hardships of trying to have a private life with Entertainment Weekly for its Nov. 8 issue, saying, "I want to have a normal life with a normal relationship and I don't want to be forced to just hang out in a hotel room all the time,"
"I'm going to go on dates and movies and dinners and when I do it's not because I'm trying to garner any kind of publicity, it's because it's something that is just an inevitable byproduct of this life," she added. "It's never my main focus, it's never intentional. [My] ideal date is just dinner and a movie. It's so normal.
