'Fast and Furious 7' Spoilers: Movie Filming Begins in Abu Dhabi; Cast Join the Set in January [VIDEO]
Fast and Furious 7 began filming Nov. 8 in Abu Dhabi with Twofour54 acting as the local producer.
The Abu Dhabi scenes will feature helicopter shots and stunt footage with a whole lot of visual effects. In January next year about 80 to 120 members, the film's cast, including Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, and crew will also be shooting at iconic landmarks in Dubai.
The chief executive of Twofour54, Noura Al Kaabi, said that by encouraging regional and international productions to shoot in the UAE, they were developing a sustainable local film industry, which would make a large contribution to both the economy and cultural life in the country.
"Directly, major productions such as Fast & Furious 7 shot in Abu Dhabi create new and highly qualified jobs, grow a deeper pool of industry talent, provide opportunities for service and equipment providers, a robust production infrastructure and contribute to the establishment of new companies to service the film industry," he said. "Indirectly, their box-office appeal has a positive impact on UAE tourism and trade. Just look at what happened to New Zealand, a great example of an economy that has seen a tangible impact to its GDP (Gross Domestic Product) after being a location for blockbuster movie franchises."
It was recently confirmed that Fast and Furious 7 would be filming in downtown Atlanta.
A printed notice sent out to the locals of the neighborhood of downtown Atlanta read that thecfilm's cast and crew will be filming in the state for several nights: Nov. 18 to Nov. 25 between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. The notice informed that numerous streets and lane closures were planned.
Fast and Furious 7 will take off from where Fast and Furious 6 left off. James Wan took over the director's role from Justin Lin, who announced earlier in the year that he will step away from directing the franchise.
The cast for the seventh installment reprising their roles include Luke Evans, Tyrese Gibson, Paul Walker, Ludacris and Jordana Brewster. UFC Womens Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and ONG Bak star Tony Jaa will also play star in the film.
