'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Cast: Christian Grey Star Jamie Dornan Will Be 'Amazing,' Co-Star Says [PHOTOS]
Fifty Shades of Grey star Jennifer Ehle has a lot of confidence in actor Jamie Donan's ability to successfully lead as Christian Bale in the erotica's film adaptation, she told E! News Nov. 9 at the BAFTA Los Angeles Jaguar Britannia Awards.
Ehle, who will play Anastasia Steele's mother in the film, did not read E.L. James' best-seller until after she signed on for the big screen adaption.
"It's extraordinary," the two-time Tony winner said. "I'm excited. I feel kind of like a tourist...I'm along for the ride, as it were."
Filming will reportedly begin Dec. 2, delayed by a month after Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam dropped out of played the lead role of Christian Grey. Dornan as since been announced as his replacement and his love interest, Anastasia Steele, will be played by Dakota Johnson.
Talking about the switch-up in lead roles, Ehle said, "I didn't follow any of the drama, but I think Jamie will be amazing."
The Zero Dark Thirty actress also admitted she was not sure how NSFW the movie will be: "Being a visual medium, it's hard to tell from a script what something's going to be like."
Fifty Shades is set to hit theaters on Aug. 1, 2014.
The film also stars True Blood star Luke Grimes andThe Lords of Dogtown actor Victor Rasuk. The film studio released the following statement in regards to Charlie's exit:
"The filmmakers of FIFTY SHADES OF GREY and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam's immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey."
