'Man of Steel 2' Cast Rumors: Terry O'Quinn to Play Lex Luthor in 'Batman vs. Superman'? [VIDEO]
Another contender has been added to the list of actors who may play Lex Luthor in Man of Steel 2, a.k.a. Batman vs. Superman.
Man of Steel 2 director Zack Snyder told fans at a live panel Saturday that Lex Luthor will definitely be in the film in some way, confirming the rumors. While Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) was once the leading contender to play the villain, the actor recently denied all rumors of his involvement.
Terry O'Quinn is now one of the leading contenders to play Superman's nemesis, according to sources close to production via SupermanSuperSite.com. O'Quinn is most famous for his role as John Locke on the popular island drama Lost. The actor's bald head accurately matches Lex Luthor's own baldness.
The last actor to play Lex Luthor on the big screen was Kevin Spacey in 2006's Superman Returns. Gene Hackman played the super villain in three of the four Superman movies from the '70s and '80s.

The new Lex Luthor may be a departure from the bald look he is often associated with, however. Snyder gave an interview in June describing his modern version of Luthor, describing him with a full head of hair.
"I don't know, I think you'd just have to imagine like a combination of, you know, Richard Branson and Brad Pitt I guess," Snyder told Yahoo! Movies UK. "Mixed together!" It is not clear if he was referring to what a modern Lex Luthor would look like in modern-day real life or if that is how he envisions the character.
Man of Steel 2 is scheduled for release in theaters on July 17, 2015.
