Kanye West New Short Film 'Cruel Summer' To Debut at Cannes Film Festival
Kanye West new short art film "Cruel Summer" will debut at the Cannes Film Festival on May 23.
The movie is inspired by the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music album of the same name is "unlike anything West has attempted before," according to a statement released Friday.
The material is "a fusion of short film and art installation," and an "immersive seven-screen experience for the eyes and ears," according to the statement.
After the premiere the movie will remain open to the public for the next two days.
Comedian Aziz Ansari, Kid Cudi, Lebanese actress Razane Jammal ("Djinn") and Palestinian actor Ali Suliman ("The Kingdom") star in the film. Yeezy is the producer, writer and director of the effort, based on a screenplay by Elon Rutberg.
Kanye has been behind the creation of some of his own music videos including “Through the Wire” and “N—-s In Paris.”
According to an MTV report, West was spotted in Qatar earlier this year filming scenes for the movie but to date the plot of the project hasn't been unveiled.
West announcement comes in the same week as the rapper and fashion designer made an appearance on a trailer for "Keeping Up With the Kardashians."
