Britney Spears' new album, Britney Jean, is available for streaming on iTunes ahead of its official release on Dec. 3.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the singer spoke about how the album was therapeutic for her.

"I would say [the album] was kind of like therapy for me," she said. "It just kind of transformed me. As you write something your perspective changes. So, it was like my 'good therapy record.' I'm an artist so I think there are periods in everyone's life where you get kind of reclusive, your creative outlet is cut off. Then sometimes it flows and you're like, 'Oh my God, this is what I need to be doing' [which makes] it easier for you to be the artist that you want to be."

Spears recently raised a few eyebrows by posting behind-the-scenes stills from her video for Perfume, the second single to release off of the album. One of the pictures showed Spears pointing a silver pistol at a man, this was preceded by a shot of the pop diva wearing a Virginia Tech hoodie. Some critics disapproved as they believed it glamorized gun violence.

Spears co-wrote Perfume with Sia for the album.

The album features a slew of high-profile collaborators like Danja, Will.i.am, William Orbit, Naughty Boy, Charli XCX and Sia.

The pop diva will be starting a two year residency at Planet Hollywood on Dec. 27. Spears will be performing 90-minute shows (Britney: Piece of Me) featuring 21 of her hit songs, in a 4,600-capacity planetarium-like theater with traditional seating, a dance floor and private tables. She confirmed 16 dates as of now, and is scheduled to perform 50 shows in 2014 and 2015. Industry insiders estimate Spears will earn $15 million per year for the shows. The tickets for the show are priced between $59 and $179.
