'Guardians Of The Galaxy' Chris Pratt Talks Star-Lord's 'False Sense of Bravado' VIDEO
Parks and Recreation's Chris Pratt signed on to be Guardians of the Galaxy's Star-Lord with vary little knowledge as to what the role encompassed.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe operates in a veritable cone of silence, which is good for fans that want to be surprised at the films but slightly difficult for actors taking on their iconic superhero roles.
"I was signed up to do the movie before I was even allowed to read a script, so it wasn't like something about this particular character got me to do it," Pratt said about his choice to join James Gunn's film, according to Fandango. "The fact that it was a Marvel movie is what got me to do it."
When more information finally emerged about Gunn's take on the Star-Lord, Pratt was happy to find that there was a lot he liked about his galactic character.
"Granted, once I did read it there were so many things about the character that I love, and one thing is that he's very much a kid at heart," Pratt told Fandago. "He's like a man-child. And I like the idea that he's got a false sense of bravado. Deep down inside he's lonely and desperate. But on the outside he walks around like he's big and tough, and I don't think he does a great job of convincing everybody that he's not just a scared little child."
Marvelites can catch a glimpse of Guardians of the Galaxy in the mid-credits scene from Thor: The Dark World, which you can view below.
Guardians of the Galaxy will hit theaters on Aug. 1.
