Man of Steel 2 will feature Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill) facing a common enemy, according to recent comments by Cavill.

Cavill recently teased some details about Man of Steel 2 in an interview with Metro, saying that Batman and Superman's similarities will bring them together eventually.

"The next installment, as we all know, is involving another rather important character, and I'm looking very forward to that interaction, because ultimately they're two sides of the same coin," Cavill said, discussing the two iconic superheroes.

Though Batman and Superman will face off against each other in physical conflicts at first, as previously reported by Enstars, they will ultimately come together with the same goal.

"How they interact, how they clash and how they ultimately aim towards the same goal is going to be an interesting relationship and I look forward to playing that with Ben especially," Cavill added.

Though Cavill does not mention anything about a villain, the "same goal" may suggest that Superman's nemesis Lex Luthor will be appearing in the film as the primary villain. Lex is a shrewd businessman who is insistent on killing Superman at whatever cost.

Casting for Lex Luthor has been rumored since the first announcement of the Batman vs. Superman concept. Various bald-headed actors from Bryan Cranston to Terry O'Quinn have been rumored to be playing the villain, but Warner Bros. has not made an official announcement.

Man of Steel 2 is scheduled for release in theaters on July 17, 2015.
