'Man of Steel 2' News: Another Villain Rumored to be in 'Batman vs. Superman' Movie [VIDEO]
A movie producer recently tweeted some new information about which characters to expect in Man of Steel 2 a.k.a. Batman vs. Superman.
In addition to the obvious Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill), several other big characters have been rumored to be appearing in Man of Steel 2. Movie producer Daniel Alter recently tweeted about three characters that should be appearing in the film: Wonder Woman, Nightwing and Doomsday.
While Wonder Woman and Nightwing have been rumored for months now, the villainous Doomsday is a new development in the process.
"Need to talk to some people tnite about #doomsday in #BatmanvsSuperman," Alter tweeted cryptically. This could either mean that he pitched the idea of having Doomsday appear or he is arguing against it.
Doomsday is a big villain from the Superman comics, residing from Krypton and carrying many powers, including superhuman strength and the ability to fly. A villain of such magnitude may be saved for a later movie, such as Justice League, while Man of Steel 2 focuses on Lex Luthor as the primary villain.
Alter also tweeted confirmations that both Wonder Woman and Nightwing would be in the film, suggesting that the decision was definite.
In other Man of Steel 2 news, Affleck offered up some information to Playboy about how his version of Batman will differ from actor Christian Bale and director Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight version.
"I don't want to give away too much, but the idea for the new Batman is to redefine him in a way that doesn't compete with the Bale and Chris Nolan Batman but still exists within the Batman canon," Affleck explained. "It will be an older and wiser version, particularly as he relates to Henry Cavill's Superman character."
Man of Steel 2 is scheduled for release in theaters on July 17, 2015.
