'The Hobbit 2' Actor Benedict Cumberbatch Performs R. Kelly's 'Genius' on Jimmy Kimmel Live [VIDEO]
Benedict Cumberbatch recited the lyrics to R. Kelly's Genius on Jimmy Kimmel's late night talk show Wednesday, Dec. 4.
The skit was an idea Kimmel had to blend together his "eclectic mix of guests" for that night's show.
"I wanted to find a way to bring them together and I think we have," he said, before directing the camera to a veiled spot on the stage. The dark velvet curtains were drawn to reveal Cumberbatch in a black suit sitting poised atop a barroom stool with his legs crossed and his hair slicked back.
Cumberbatch proceeded to sing R. Kelly's song, which describes a night in the bedroom with his lover. The actor's English accent and stiff disposition were enough to nail the hilarity of the exercise.
Cumberbatch and R. Kelly were both guests on Kimmel's show for the night. The R&B singer was slated to perform later in the evening to promote the release of his new album, Black Panties.

Cumberbatch, who plays the dragon Smaug in The Hobbit 2: Desolation of Smaug, came on the show to talk about the film releasesing on Dec. 13.
