A mother and daughter from Fresno, Calif. recently shared their story of being duped into going to, what they thought was, Selena Gomez's home to hang out with the Slow Down singer.

The daughter, Viana Janae Jones, told Radar Online she received an online message from someone pretending to be the former Disney star and believed it was her.

"She reached out to me [back in January] and said she saw my dance videos online and wanted me to work on her tour as one of her backup dancers," the 16-year-old aspiring dancer said.

Jones said she and the imposter spoke back and forth for months. During that time, she was sent a backstage pass before eventually receiving an invite to Gomez's Los Angeles home on July 28 for a "girls weekend."

The teen and her mother, Valeta Jones -- who told the online publication she was "hesitant" but "didn't want to tell her child 'no' " -- headed to the address given.

When they pulled up to the house claimed to be Gomez's, Viana received an email and was hit with the harsh reality that an ex-boyfriend was playing a prank on her.

"The email said that I was pathetic for thinking I could be friends with Selena," Viana stated.

That didn't stop Viana from ringing the intercom outside of the home in hopes of meeting the real Gomez. A woman answered, but it was not the singer.

"I tried to explain everything that happened without coming off as a crazy fan [but] she hung up before I could finish explaining, which made my stomach turn," Viana said.

Gomez's mother, Mandy Teefey, then came outside and was "very sweet and sympathetic" to the Jones'.

"We had brought Selena a birthday present, and we also brought gifts for her newborn sister. Though we were glad her mom accepted the gifts, we left humiliated and didn't get to meet Selena," Viana said.

Viana said she still hopes to meet Gomez one day.

Gomez's rep confirmed that Viana's story is true.
