Sharon Stone: Nanny's Lawsuit is Absurd
Sharon Stone is denying allegations from a former nanny that she made derogatory comments about her Filipino background and her religious beliefs.
"This is an absurd lawsuit that has been filed by a disgruntled ex-employee who is obviously looking to get money any way she can," Stone spokesperson Paul Bloch said in a statement, according to the NY Daily News.
The former nanny, Erlinda Elemen is suing the actress for racial harassment and wrongful termination.
Elemen alleges that while she was a live-in nanny for the actress' children, Stone equated Filipino with "being stupid" and forbade her to speak in front of her children because she didn't want them to "talk like you."
According to the lawsuit filed Wednesday, Stone criticized the nanny for attending church frequently and once forbade her from reading the Bible in her house.
The nanny, who worked five years with Stone, said she sometimes worked seven days a week, on holidays and during trips out of town but that the actress fired her after she learned Elemen was paid overtime.
Elemen was reportedly hired in October 2006 and fired in February 2011.
