Lee Daniels' The Butler and 12 Years a Slave earned a total of seven nominations for the 20th Screen Actors Guild Awards when the full list of nominees was announced Wednesday, Dec. 11.

The SAG Awards honored 12 Years a Slave with four nominations - more than any other film. The portrayal of slavery in early America earned a nod for best ensemble cast, male actor in a leading role for Chiwetel Ejiofor and supporting nominations for Michael Fassbender and newcomer Lupita Nyong'o.

The Butler earned three SAG nominations: best ensemble cast, male actor in a leading role for Forest Whitaker and a supporting nod for Oprah Winfrey.

The late James Gandolfini - who previously won three SAG Awards for his leading role as mob boss Tony Soprano in The Sopranos - earned a posthumous nod for his supporting role in the romantic comedy Enough Said.

The SAGs also saw new names added to the roster of nominees. Nyong'o was nominated for her performance in her very first feature film while Barkhad Abdi was nominated for his role as a ruthless Somali pirate in Captain Phillips. After six decades in the business, actress June Squibb garnered her first SAG nomination, for Nebraska.

The 20th Screen Actors Guild Awards presentation will be held on Jan. 18 at the Shrine Auditorium & Exposition Center in Los Angeles. The guild will honor Rita Moreno with the SAG Life Achievement Award.
