Lady Gaga said Sunday she was canceling her concert in Jakarta, Indonesia on June 3 after facing strong opposition from Islamic groups.

Lady Gaga made the announcement on Twitter. Also local promoter Big Daddy Entertainment said on its website that the "Born This Way Ball" concert in Jakarta was canceled.

"We had to cancel the concert in Indonesia. I'm so very sorry to the fans & just as devastated as you if not more. You are everything to me," Gaga said on her Twitter Sunday.

"I will try to put together something special for you. My love for Indonesia has only grown. #GagaSendsLoveToJakarta and all its people," she continued.

At least three Islamic organizations opposed to the singer performing in Jakarta because they said Gaga was "vulgar" and that her songs spread "satanic teaching."

"She's a vulgar singer who wears only panties and a bra when she sings and she stated she is the envoy of the devil's child and that she will spread satanic teaching," said Salim Alatas, the Jakarta head of hardline Islamic Defender Front (FPI) to Reuters. "This is dangerous."

Members of the FPI reportedly bought tickets to the concert and had planned to stop it.

The concert had already sold out its 52,000 tickets, according to Rolling Stone.
