Operational Psychologist Nate Getz is set to return to NCIS: Los Angeles at some point this season, but the 'when' and 'why' have yet to be disclosed.

Nate (Peter Cambor) has bounced around the NCIS: LA scene since season 1, popping up everywhere from American prisons to the Middle East, and occasionally stopping by the Los Angeles headquarters. Following Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) and Sam's (LL Cool J) unfortunate torture ordeal during the season 4 finale and the season 5 premiere, Nate came by to make sure the agents were mentally prepared to return to work.

However, series creator Shane Brennan promised viewers they would be seeing the incredibly tall psychologist at least once more this season.

"Yes, Nate makes a return in Episode 2," Brennan explained to Xfinity over the summer. "It won't be the last time we see him this season."

The 35-year-old actor recently made trip out to Los Angeles, possibly to film for an upcoming episode of the CBS series.

"LA bound! Let's do this!" Cambor tweeted on Dec. 1.

Meanwhile, NCIS: LA executive producer John Peter Kousakis tweeted him back with the message, "CU Sooooon, my friend!"

If Cambor was heading out to California to make another appearance as Nate, he could be appearing in the first episode after the mid-season hiatus on Jan. 14. An Eric Laneuville directed episode (title unknown) was filming at the same time as his arrival.

NCIS: LA airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
