Paul Walker Funeral: Family & Friends Say Last Goodbyes to 'Fast and Furious' Star, Tyrese Gibson Says 'God Has a Better Plan'
Family and friends of late actor Paul Walker said their final goodbyes to the Fast and Furious star in a private funeral at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in the Hollywood Hills on Saturday, Dec. 14.
Walker's remains were cremated and his ashes were interred at the cemetery, according to E! News. The ceremony was non-denominational. An American flag was tri-folded and displayed during the brief ceremony.
Those in attendance included his father Paul Walker Sr., his mother Cheryl Walker, his brothers Caleb Walker and Cody Walker. After the funeral Paul's good friend and former Fast and Furious costar, Tyrese Gibson, took to Facebook to talk about the late star.
"Today In a room full of your loved ones I wish today was your wedding instead.... God has a better plan even beyond ALL of our own understandings," he wrote. "For selfish reasons we all wanted you to stay, another laugh, another take, another talk, another moment..... I guess you can't get all you ask for in life.... But our hearts are FULL from all the moments we DID have, 13 years of laughter and grace, humility and love.
"Never did I take my access for granted.... Continue praying for his #Family, his daughter #Meadow, you are the WORLDS best friend that's why we're all feeling it... #RIHAW. Rest In Heaven Angel Walker."
Paul's remains were released to his family on Dec. 10 after the L.A. County Department of Coroner-Medical Examiner completed its postmortem. On Dec. 8, thousands of fans packed the site where Paul was killed Nov. 30 in a single-car crash for a public memorial.
Another private gathering is being held Paul's family and friends at an as-yet unrevealed location in addition to the funeral. The larger gathering will be invitation-only and no media or press will be allowed in.
Walker was a passenger in a red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT that crashed into a pole and burst into flames in Santa Clarita, Calif.
Both the actor and the driver, his business partner Roger Rodas, were killed. Paul was 40 and Rodas was 38. No other car was involved and the accident took place when Paul and Rodas left a event for the actor's charity Reach Out Worldwide. Rodas reportedly lost control of the car before it hit into the pole. Both men were declared dead on the scene.
