Many of America's biggest movie critics have assembled their lists of the top 10 movies of 2013, featuring crowd favorites and indie dramas alike.

Critic aggregate metacritic.com has put together a master list of many critics' lists, allowing for a general consensus on what movies are viewed to be the best of the year.

Two movies are tied for no. 9 on the list of best movies of 2013. The first is Nebraska, the small indie drama filmed entirely in black-and-white. The other is The Wolf of Wall Street, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as a stock broker who made it big in the '90s only to see his fortune fall.

The no. 8 film of 2013 is The Act of Killing, a documentary about Indonesian death squad leaders. No. 7 is Blue is the Warmest Color, the controversial French indie drama about young girls in love.

Coming in at no. 6 on the list is American Hustle. The film's all star cast includes Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper and Christian Bale. No. 5 on the list is Her, the indie comedy about a man who falls in love with his supercomputer, voiced by Scarlett Johansson.

Tying at no. 3 on the list are Before Midnight, the Ethan Hawke-Julie Delpy romantic comedy and Inside Llewyn Davis, about the '60s folk rock scene.

As for the winner of Best Movie of 2013, there was a tie. The first film is Gravity, the space drama starring Sandra Bullock as an astronaut stranded in space. The other is 12 Years a Slave, the true story of Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free man who was taken away from his family and sold into slavery.
