While Kensi (Daniela Ruah) is busy tracking down the White Ghost in Afghanistan, Nell (Renee Felice Smith) has been helping pick up the slack back in California. Recently stepping out of Ops and into the field, Nell is proving she is definitely Hetty's (Linda Hunt) protégé.

"#staytuned #NCISLA fans! Here is a tease: Nell has been working out. Watch her masterful moves coming in Jan. @reneefsmith ROCKS!" tweeted executive producer John Peter Kousakis in regards to a Sayoc style fight scene in "War Cries."

While Nell takes on more fieldwork, Assistant Director Granger (Miguel Ferrer) and LAPD Detective Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) will be pairing up for a brief scene while the liaison is partner-less.

"Paired up with ECO for the first time today," Ferrer tweeted during filming in early December. "Found some very interesting moments together. Terrific actor and a great guy. #NCISLA."

The team's mission in the upcoming episode is to help protect a former Army intelligence officer and private contractor, Robert Brown (Dylan Bruno). A witness of war crimes during his time abroad, Brown is a wanted man by several baddies who would prefer he never gets the chance to testify about what he saw, according to TV Guide.
