The 10 biggest movies of 2014 are leaving audiences in anticipation. Whether it's a superhero, a hilarious sequel or Angelina Jolie, the hopes are high.

1. Divergent

Based on the worldwide bestseller, this action sci-fi stars Shailene Woodley as a teenager in a dystopian society that is at risk of destroying her life. Also starring Ashley Judd and Kate Winslet, this series has a chance of scoring as high as The Hunger Games.

2. The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The sequel to the acclaimed superhero franchise stars Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man as he battles the Oscorp villains, including Electro and The Rhino.

3. Transcendence

Johnny Depp stars as a dying scientist who gets his subconscious downloaded onto a computer where he has the power to do anything he wants. This eventually leads to chaos and mayhem with a pondering question on if he can be stopped or if the world is doomed.

4. 22 Jump Street

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum return as the hilarious undercover cops who go on new and hysterical adventures going undercover at a college. This flick appears to have more swearing, inappropriate humor and excessive partying now that officers Schmidt and Jenko are college guys.

5. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 1

One of the biggest series of the decade, this trilogy divided up into two films. Jennifer Lawrence will once again star as Katniss Everdeen who becomes the symbol for a rebellion that forces her to fight another treacherous battle.

6. Maleficent

Angelina Jolie stars as the infamous villain with the creepy horns and the maniacal cackle. Also starring Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora, this film pinpoints the villain's perspective on the classic tale that led to transformation and a fatal spinning wheel.

7. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo and Leonardo team up to conquer invading aliens and save the world. Produced by Michael Bay, this film stars Will Arnett, Whoopi Goldberg and Megan Fox as the iconic April O'Neil.

8. Veronica Mars

After fans were shocked and angry after the cult series went off the air after only three seasons, Kristen Bell reprises her role in a follow-up film. This time, Veronica has her college degree while continuing her daring escapades and keeping up with her witty charm.

9. Into the Woods

One of the world's greatest musicals turns into a film starring Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp and Anna Kendrick. This film compiles a twist of fairy tales, including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel.

10. Muppets Most Wanted

Kermit, Miss Piggy and the gang return in a sequel with an evil frog who frames Kermit. The evil frog with a strange mole is a jewel thief who leaves Kermit locked up in European jail while taking over his life. One can't go wrong with a sequel to films that almost everyone has grown up with.
