'Agents of SHIELD' Spoilers: Melinda May Boots Skye From Team In 'The Magical Place' [VIDEO], Search For Coulson Continues [PHOTOS]
Melinda May is throwing Skye under the bus - or rather, off the Bus - as the team searches for Coulson in Marvel's Agents of SHIELD.
When the ABC series returns this January with "The Magical Place," Centipede has abducted Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), Mike Peterson (August Richards) is presumably dead, and SHIELD's high-ranking officers are sweeping in to assume control of the case.
This is unfortunate for Skye (Chloe Bennet), the least conventional member of Coulson's team. The young hacktivist will come under the scrutiny of Agent Victoria Hand (Saffron Burrows), a cold operative who sees no need for the consultant. Agent May (Ming-Na Wen), however, will get the final say in the matter and her verdict is harsh - Skye is off the team (see video below).
Although it looks like May is benching a key player in the biggest match of the year, viewers will have to hope that the senior agent will have a trick or two up her sleeve and a secret plan to utilize Skye elsewhere. While it is well known that May has been rather cold to the ebullient computer whiz in the past, it seems unlikely that she would be so quick to dismiss someone Coulson trusts.
Considering Skye can be seen fighting alongside Agent Ward (Brett Dalton) and May in stills from Spoiler TV, it's safe to assume she'll find her way back to the team when the time is right.Scroll through the gallery above to get an advanced look at "The Magical Place."
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and will return on Jan. 7.
