Fans of The Originals waiting for a romance to begin between two of the show's characters may find themselves disappointed by one actor's recent comments.

A synopsis for the Jan. 21 episode -- Apres Moi, Le Deluge -- promises fans more intimacy between Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) when the show returns to The CW after its winter hiatus. There could be even more drama when Klaus (Joseph Morgan) finds out his baby mama and brother have chemistry.

However, if Gillies has anything to say the love triangle expected to play out on screen, the storyline would not continue,

"I don't think they're a good match. It's kind of gross if you think about it," Gillies said. "Let's just take this intimacy to its natural conclusion. They have sex. What does that mean when your brother's child is within her? There's something obscene about it. But it's sort of wonderful in an independent film kind of way."

Gillies thinks he isn't the only one who would be disappointed by the show delving into another love triangle plot. Fans who began watching the Vampire Diaries spin-off are sick of that tangle, in his opinion.

"For this show, I'm certainly not excited about the relationship. I think the people who turned to our show were really hoping and praying there wouldn't be a love triangle," he said. "Unfortunately, that's kind of the convention that's been thrown at them. That said, I know we're making the best of it that we possibly can. We just continue to see where it takes us."
