The widely received British-American drama, Downton Abbey, continues to garner the attention of its viewers' at an astounding rate.
A 'Serious Shakeup' And Another Major Death Set To Occur In Season 5?
However, while the popular program recently delivered some of its finest ratings for season 4 in the U.K., it appears as though there's a possibility that it won't go on beyond its very next season.
While conducting an interview with The Wall Street Journal, creator Julian Fellowes admitted some shocking news, that the future of the TV series is still up in the air after season 5, especially since NBC has greenlit one of his future projects, The Gilded Age. The respective program will revolve around New York City in the 1880s.
"It's for NBC Universal and it will happen when Downton finishes because I just couldn't do both at once. I haven't written it yet, but it's about the old aristocracy, the Winthrops and the Stuyvesants and the new money of oil and gas and shipping in the 1870s. It will all be fiction - it won't be real people - but when those families descended on New York, they took over," he said.
