The Star Wars film franchise almost started with a role played by late rapper Tupac Shakur, who was reportedly invited to read for the character Mace Windu in Star Wars: Episode 1.
Tupac collaborator and Death Row Records' former Chief Engineer Rick Clifford told fan website 2Pac-Forum, "[Tupac] was telling me that he was supposed to read for George Lucas and them. They wanted him to be a Jedi. Yes, I'm serious - Samuel L. [Jackson] got Tupac's part."
