'Jurassic World' Movie News: Filming to Begin in Louisiana in June; Sam Neill Says the Franchise Doesn't Need Him [VIDEO]
The filming for the fourth instalment in the iconic film franchise, Jurassic World, will begin in Louisiana on June 2.
Very recently, Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation) was confirmed for a lead role in the film. While the actor is mostly recognised as a funny man, Pratt has also showcased his more serious and intense side with films like Zero Dark Thirty. New Girl's Jake Johnson has also signed up for a role in Jurassic World. Bryce Dallas Howard will be playing the female lead in the film.
Additional cast members include Nick Robinson and Ty Simpkins, who will be playing brothers in the film.
In other related news, Sam Neill, who played a lead character in the original film and reprised the role in Jurassic Park 3, said that he will not be making a comeback with this one.
In a recent interview with Slashfilm, the actor suggested that he was "not needed" anymore.
"I think there's a whole new cast and a whole new look at things, and I think that's great," said Neill. "As I said, I'd never say no, but I wish them... well, I'm sure it's going to be great, but they don't need me."
The new film will be a sequel and not a reboot according to director Colin Trevorrow. The director suggested that the film, which is now titled Jurassic World, wil be set 22 years in the future. The details came to light when a fan asked the filmmaker to confirm rumors about the film being a reboot.
The Jurassic Park films are based on Michael Crichton's series of novels about pre-historic beasts being revived by revolutionary gene technology. Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley are co-producing the film alongside Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two instalments in the franchise.
The film will hit theaters on June 12, 2015.
