'Fast and Furious 7' News: Paul Walker's Character to Be Dropped? Kurt Russell Remembers Co-Star; Fan-Made Film Poster Goes Viral [VIDEO]
As uncertainty surrounds the release date for Fast and Furious 7 because of the indecision about Paul Walker's character, there are new suggestions that he might be dropped from the future of the franchise.
As filming has begun to avoid endless delays, the fate of Walker's character, Brian O'Connor, is gradually becoming clearer. There was talk of the deceased actor's brother filling in for him in the film, with rumors of Universal showing interest in continuing the character relying on Cody's physical likeness with his brother.
The New York Post recently suggested that Universal might not need someone to step in for Walker as they already had enough footage of Walker from the previous films in the series and those outttakes could be edited. The filmmakers also have the magic of CGI was at their disposal. The publication also reported that the studio had already invested $150 million in the film.
An insider also told Mid-Day.com that the studio was now discouraged about using Cody as a replacement for Walker because his behavior is different from his brother's, nor does he look as much like him to convincingly portray the role.
"Cody doesn't look enough like his brother, who was 40, or act enough like him, to impersonate Paul," the source said.
In a recent interview at the Sundance Film Festival, Walker's co-star Kurt Russell remembered the deceased actor and said he was unsure as to what would happen with Walker's character.
"They're having to rewrite, they're having to do whatever they're having to do to deal with the situation. Listen, it's catastrophic. It's the worst thing that could happen to a movie, but it's not as bad as what happened to Paul," the 62-year-old actor said. ''So everything is in perspective. He was a terrific guy. And life is full of curveballs."
In other related news, the first poster for the film is out now, albeit it is fan-made. The poster, which runs with the tag line, "where roads part," has already gone viral on the internet. Some also perceive the words as a subtle message alluding to Walker's departure. The picture shows too cars zipping in different directions, their skid marks forming the figure 7.
