'Grammy Awards' 2014: Macklemore And Ryan Lewis Winner For Best New Artist [VIDEO]
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist.
One of their most popular songs this year was "White Walls" They have a total of seven nominations this year, including Album of the Year, Best Rap Album, Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song and Best Music Video.
This is their first Grammy Award. They've won two American Music Awards in 2013 for Favorite Rap/Hop-Hop Album and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist. They also won a BET Award in 2013 for Best Group.
The other nominations for Best New Artist were James Blake, Kendrick Lamar, Kacey Musgraves and Ed Sheeran. One of Blake's popular songs this year was "Retrograde." This was his only nomination this year. Kendrick Lamar has seven nominations, including Album of the Year. Musgraves has four nominations, including Best Country Album while Sheeran was nominated last year for Song of the Year.
Last year's Grammy Award for Best New Artist went to Fun. Their most popular hits include "We Are Young" and "Some Nights." The other nominees last year included Alabama Shakes, Hunter Hayes, The Lumineers and Frank Ocean.
The winner for Best New Artist in 2012 was Bon Iver who competed against The Band Perry, J. Cole, Nicki Minaj and Skrillex.
The winner for the award in 2011 was Esperanza Spalding who competed against Drake, Florence and the Machine, Justin Bieber and Mumford and Sons.
Other winners for Best New Artist include Zac Brown Band, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Carrie Underwood, John Legend, Maroon 5 and Evanescence.
