Macklemore & Ryan Lewis performed their meaningful song Same Love at the 56th Grammy Awards on Sunday.

The group was then joined by 33 couples who celebrated their vows during the award show and were introduced by Queen Latifah.

The big surprise then came when Madonna entered the stage singing her 1986 hit Open Your Heart. The legend also sang a few lines with Mary Lambert, who is featured on Same Love.

The performance earned all of them a standing ovation and tons of applause.

The rap duo won best new artist at the award show as well as best rap album for The Heist, their debut record released in 2012.

"Wow, we're here on the stage right now," Macklemore said during his acceptance speech. "I want to say we made this album without a record label, we made it independently and we appreciate all the support."

Macklemore made sure to thank the fans, his team and his fiancee, who was in tears.

The awards come at no surprise since the group had one of the biggest hits of 2013 with Thrift Shop, which shot to No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.

This year's Grammys were hosted by rapper LL Cool J, who also held the same title at the 2013 award show.

"Just being a part of it is great," he told Us Weekly. "I mean, winning is always going to be the best. I mean, nothing tops winning! But it's always fun being involved and it's fun hosting. This is a good time."
