Doctor Who fans may not have seen the last of Matt Smith after all.

The Eleventh Doctor completed his run as the iconic Time Lord during the "Time of the Doctor" Christmas special, but new rumors state that Smith will pop up briefly in the season 8 premiere.

Smith's Doctor will allegedly be calling from Trenzalor to check up on his companion, Clara (Jenna Louise Coleman), and have a word with his newest replacement.

With Peter Capaldi at the helm as the Twelfth Doctor, the cast and crew of the BBC show headed out of the studio on Tuesday for some on location shots. During this time, local resident Ryan Farrell captured some photos (view here) and snippets of dialog from the Ben Wheatley directed episode. Farrell claimed that when the former Doctor rings Clara, the assistant director read Eleven's lines, indicating that Smith previously recorded vocals of filmed his portion of the scene.

In addition, Farrell reported that the current, fiercer Doctor and his traveling companion are in for a little spat. Previously confirmed by The Mirror, whatever the argument is, Farrell stated that it doesn't last long.

Doctor Who is expected to return to the BBC and the BBC America sometime this fall with a Victorian era premiere. Click the video below to see the scene discussed .
