The first look at the turtles of Michael Bay's upcoming reboot based on the iconic foursome has finally been revealed via Comic Book Therapy.

In the promotional art we see Bay's spiffed up versions of the turtles in shining armour -- Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Bay's turtles don't steer too far away from the original mutants but they seem more realistic with more emphasis laid on their reptilian characteristics. A look at Shredder, the turtles' main atangonist who is being portrayed by William Fichtner (Invasion, Prison Break, The Lone Ranger), was also revealed. Megan Fox will be playing the part of April O' Neil, who is a good friend of the turtles.

Bay is producing the film, which is being directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans, Battle: Los Angeles).

Alan Ritchson will be playing Raphael, Pete Ploszek will be playing Leonardo, Jeremy Howard will be playing Donatello and Noel Fisher will be playing Michalangelo. Whoopi Goldberg will be taking on the role of Bernadette Thompson, the female version of Burne Thompson.

The actors who will portray non-human characters will be filmed in motion capture suits and then modified with the generous use of CGI.

Ritchson spoke with The Back Lot about joining the Ninja Turtles franchise and how his role as Aquaman in Smallville would help him play Leonardo.

"I think as far as Ninja Turtles, I played a comic book hero [Aquaman] before, so I had some experience with trying to bring a character like that to life. It's challenging because a comic book can span decades and there is an infinite number of authors to go to. The source material changes and these characters' identities change," he said. "We still see it every day, like Superman is gay now in comic book nine hundred and eighty one, it's like 'okay well, that's different then than the guy that started out in number one.'"

Pre-production for the fim began with principal filming which finished in Aug. 2013.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on Aug. 8 2014.
