It is being reported that Anne Hathaway is in talks to star with Robert De Niro in the Nancy Meyers workplace comedy, The Intern.

Hathaway will be replacing Reese Witherspoon, who reportedly passed on the project because of scheduling issues.

Initially, the Nancy Meyers film, which was originally being backed by Paramount, was being pitched with Michael Caine and Tina Fey in the lead roles, but because of budgeting issues the two stars couldn't be roped in. As Warner Bros. took the film under its umbrella it repackaged the project with Robert De Niro and Reese Witherspoon in mind.

Insiders also suggested that after Witherspoon declined the part, Kristen Wiig was also up for consideration.

Hathaway will be playing the role of an owner of an Internet company, who hires a retiree for an intern. De Niro plays the intern, who eventually ends up becoming a valuable resource for Hathaway.

Scott Rudin is producing the film.
