'Agents Of SHIELD' Spoilers: How Will Series React To 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'? Clark Gregg Talks Tie-In Possibilities [VIDEO]
SHIELD will be butting heads with world of superheroes in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Marvel's Agents of SHIELD will be feeling the fallout.
How Far Will Coulson Go To Save Skye ON 'Agents of SHIELD'?
A piece of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Agents of SHIELD has carefully managed to integrate the world of Phase Two films into its plot without losing its own identity. For instance, when Thor: The Dark World hit theaters last November, the ABC series turned out an Asgardian themed episode that acknowledged the film's events but placed focused on SHIELD's Agent Ward (Brett Dalton).
As the release date for Captain America: The Winter Soldier draws closer, fans are beginning to wonder how SHIELD writers will pen a reaction episode when the Marvel world may look quite different in its wake. Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige recently claimed that the new Caps installment will create a "very different landscape," and Agents of SHIELD will be the only outlet operating in this changed world before Avengers: Age of Ultron hits screens in 2015.
SHIELD's Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson) took a moment to discuss the issue with TV Guide Magazine, and although he steered clear of specifics, Gregg hinted that the upcoming film will create an intriguing tie-in.
"From what I can tell from the trailers, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s a big part of [The Winter Soldier] world," Gregg explained to TV Guide Magazine. "This C.E.N.T.I.P.E.D.E. plot and The Clairvoyant is going to kind of pull a lot of things together and perhaps connects to some of the Marvel films in the same way that a [previous episode] connected, to certain extent, with Thor 2. It will be interesting to see how our team integrates with the world after Captain America [The Winter Soldier]."
Agents of SHIELD airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Click the video below to see a preview for SHIELD's next episode, "Tahiti."
