First Female Running Back, Jen Welter Makes Pro Football History & Trash Talks In The Process [ WATCH VIDEO]
On Saturday, Jen Welter broke new ground in professional football by becoming the first female non-kicker or placekick-holder to grace the gridiron in a men's pro game.
Welter took the backfield as a running back for the Texas Revolution, as the respective team squared off against the North Texas Crunch in the Indoor Football League.
Welter, who stands at just 5 foot 2 inches and weighs in at 130 pounds, was hit fairly hard and lost yardage on her first rush of the game.
However, she was able to quickly get back up,and even took to trash-talking in the process.
On Feb. 16, Welter dished to the Dallas Morning News about her reaction to the hard tackle, which was quite similar to your average male pigskin player.
"I said, 'Is that all you got?' They were getting all alive, and I had to say something. I don't want them to think I was intimidated," she said.
While many would most likely assume that Welter's ambitions are to put her own footprint on the sport of pro football, she's quick to admit that it's more about breaking down the barriers for the female gender in the male-dominated sport.
"It's really not about me. It's about them and the future of the sport," she added.
