American Idol's female semifinalists spent Tuesday evening singing their hearts out in an effort to remain on season 13 of the Fox show.

However, five girls never even made it to the stage. After letting fifteen hopefuls of each gender advance form Hollywood Week, the American Idol judges made the shocking decision to eliminate ten contestants without even granting them another performance.

By the end of the night, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr. had removed Andrina Brogden, Kenzie Hall, Jillian Jensen, Brandy Neelly, and Austine Wolfe from the roster. While these competitors were not given the opportunity to go before the judges once more, they did attended a week of performance boot camp which is more than can be said for those eliminated at the end of last week.

After a behind-the-scenes look at book camp week, Majesty Rose York hopped on stage to give her rendition of Happy by Pharrell. The singer surprised Urban with her relaxed nature while Connick praised York for setting the bar for the next nine competitors.

Up next was Kristen O'Connor with Turning Tables by Adele, although her nerves taint her performance. Perhaps the series could remove some of the youngsters' nerves by guaranteeing them each a place in Tuesday night's affairs.

Bruana Oakley hit the stage next and hit the high notes with Demi Lovato's Warrior. Jena Irene (previously Jena Asciutto) quickly followed Oakley's set with a rendition of Paint It Black by the Rolling Stones before Bria Anai performed Melanie Fiona's Wrong Side Of A Love Song.

Later, Marrialle Sellars delivered a lack-luster cover of Katy Perry's Roar while Jessica Meuse took the country approach and performed Drink A Beer by Luke Bryan. Meanwhile, Emily Piriz went for Paris (Ooh La La) by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals (a very popular audition piece this season) and the extremely popular MK Nobilette took on All Of Me by John Legend.

Finally, Malaya Watson closed out the night with Hard Time (No One Knows Better Than I) by Ray Charles.

American Idol will return Wednesday night with the Boys' Semifinals at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
