When Reign returns next week, there will likely be some drama with Catherine's sons not having their mother if she dies.

Mary And Bash's Relationship To Grow?

When Catherine tries to convince Mary that her sons will be orphans if she gets beheaded, Mary informs that the boys' father will still be there. But Catherine knows that their upbringing wouldn't be the same if she's not there.

"Mary has realized that with Catherine in the tower, with Henry who's not the best father to begin with and with Francis having left court that there are children there, Francis's younger brothers, who are essentially parentless," executive producer Laurie McCarthy said in a live interview.

Will Catherine Get Her Head Cut Off?

Mary then decides that she would like to help the boys out by taking their troubles off their minds, but unfortunately, things do not go as planned.

"What they try to do is to give them kind of a normal life, to give them a party," McCarthy said. "And of course, things go horribly wrong."

As Mary and the boys ride in the carriage, a group of dangerous men attack them, causing things to break and the boys to scream.

Mary and Bash then have a dispute over the boys on how to protect them. Executive producer Brad Silberling describes the relationship between Mary and Bash as having parenting disagreements.

"It sort of brings to the fore, a parenting disagreement...a different approach between Mary and Bash in this moment where they get very different opinions as to how to best integrate the young princes to keep them safe," Silberling said.

Reign returns to The CW on Thursday, February 27 at 9 p.m.
