'Dallas' Season 3 Spoilers: Cast Dishes On Moving Forward With 'Larger Than Life' Storyline & Christopher To 'Lick His Wounds'? [VIDEO]
J.R. Ewing's death plagued his family and foes on TNT's hit show Dallas- but cast members revealed the presence of Larry Hagman, who died of cancer while playing Ewing, still lives on the set.
New Fling For Christopher in 'Dallas' Season 3
The third season is set to debut on Feb. 24 and it will continue without Hagman after his passing in November 2012 at 81-years-old.
Patrick Duffy, who plays Ewing's brother Bobby, said, "[J.R.]'s character was such a larger-than-life being that we still reference him on the show. And a lot of the plot devices that we're dealing with, we attribute to the character of J.R.--if it hadn't have been for that, then this wouldn't have happened....But there he is."
J.R.'s Son Set to Avenge HIs Death
Duffy continued and said that while J.R.'s constant presence is not necessarily a bad thing, he does miss acting with his close friend.
"Once we got the first couple of episodes after Larry's death, handling the demise of J.R., we knew we could do anything and it was a matter of would the audience stay with us. And they did through the end of the season," he said.
Josh Henderson, who portrays John Ross, the son of J.R. and Sue Ellen, also opened up about filming without Hagman.
"We'll never be used to shooting this show without Larry. He's always missed and he's always a part of the story line."
He revealed that John Ross takes after his father when it comes to masterminding schemes and being a womanizer.
Jesse Metcalfe, who plays Bobby's adopted son Christopher, said that his character has his own way of dealing with the loss of J.R. on the show.
"He kind of takes a step back in order to lick his wounds and take care of himself. And Bobby sort of steps in to that role as far as standing up to John Ross with his various schemes that he has this season," Metcalfe said.
Hagman passed away while the cast was filming the second season. The third season debuts Monday Feb. 24 on TNT at 10/9c.Check out the extended trailer below!
