Miami Cannibal Attack Victim New Photos Surface Showing Bloody Attack
A new photo of the horrific crime scene where cannibal Rudy Eugene attacked homeless man Ronald Poppo while he was sleeping under a Miami causeway has been released. The new photo shows a naked Eugene on his front, lying dead next to his victim who's face was in a pool of blood. Poppo can be seen on his side, naked from his waist down- with a blood soaked head and blood pouring onto the cement.
The graphic photo was taken just minutes after a police offer shot Eugene dead after repeatedly tell him to stop eating his victim. Rudy carried out the cannibalistic attack after stripping Poppo from the waist down and pouncing on him naked.
The new image surfaced just a day after a press conference was held at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center. Doctors said the victim was "awake and alert". They released a photograph which showed him walking down a hospital hallway with staff. His left eye, which was gouged out by Rudy, was patched over with a skin graft. Doctors are hoping to save his right eye, thought it still remains very damaged.
Surgeon Nicholas Namias said: "He's pleased to report to all of you that he's feeling well, he's eating, he's walking around with physical therapy, he's talking with us."
Poppo had holes in his chest, which could be from the bullets fired by the officer to kill Eugene. He is also said to have suffered a brain injury during the attack.
Despite the trauma, Poppo has not complained about his pain and is recovering well, even commenting "Go Heat!" before the NBA Finals game 1 last night.
Poppo is expected to stay in the hospital's trauma center for weeks.
