Carrey, who reprises his role as Lloyd Christmas for Dumb and Dumber 2, spoke to reporters at a David Lynch Foundation event this week about the sequel and what it was like to reunite with the cast and crew 20 years after Dumb and Dumber.
"It's just really fantastic getting together with the old group again," Carrey said. "I just saw an assemblage of the new movie... it's just so fun, it's almost a dissociative experience now. Harry [Jeff Daniels] and Lloyd are kind of their own people, like they actually exist. And they're not me, that's for sure."
Rob Riggle Says Sequel is Funnier Than the Original 1994 Film?
The sequel, which is titled Dumb and Dumber To, reunites Carrey and Daniels as well as writer/directors Bobby and Peter Farrelly.
Carrey said that returning to the character of Lloyd opposite Daniels' Harry was as if "no time had passed at all. It was great. He's amazing."
The plot of Dumb and Dumber To features Harry and Lloyd going on a road trip across America to locate Harry's daughter in order to take one of her kidneys. Actors slated to appear in the movie alongside Carrey and Daniels are Kathleen Turner as Fraida Felcher, Jennifer Lawrence as young Fraida Felcher, Rob Riggle as a pair of twins and Laurie Holden as the film's primary villain.
Dumb and Dumber To is scheduled for release in theaters on Nov. 14.
