Teresa Giudice Jail: Reality Star and Husband Close To Reaching Plea Deal [VIDEO]
Teresa Giudice and her husband Joe are very close to coming up with a plea deal with the U.S. Attorney's office for their serious more than 41 counts of fraud charges.
Joe Taking The Fall For Teresa?
According to In Touch Weekly magazine, if the judge approves the deal, Joe will spend at least 5 years behind bars, but he will not be deported back to Italy, and The Real Housewives of New Jersey star will be subject to 5 years of probation at the most. They will also have to cough up $11 million in restitution. The two were initially looking at up 50 years in prison. They originally plead not guilty to the charges back in November.
A judge is set to accept or shut down the deal Tuesday March 4.
The alleged plea change from not guilty to guilty is the latest move the couple has made since asking a judge to trial them separately in late January. If they were to be tried separately, Joe would testify that his wife had no knowledge of the fraudulent activity they're accused of such as bankruptcy and mortgage fraud.
Court documents read, "Should the trials be severed, Mr. Giudice has affirmed his willingness to testify as to Teresa's involvement in the alleged criminal activity. He would be unable to do so in a joint trial wherein his Fifth Amendment rights are invoked."
As for the reality show, Bravo Executive Producer Andy Cohen has revealed that the drama sparking from Teresa and Joe's trial will be aired on the upcoming sixth season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
He said recently, "With Teresa, we're shooting [The Real Housewives of New Jersey] now and that's very much the reality of what she's going through. It will very much be a part of the show next season."
New episodes of The Real Housewives of New Jersey are slated to return later this year.
