Jon Favreau will exchange Iron Man's heavy-hitting action sequences for family comedy in his upcoming endeavor, Chef, which watches a culinary master rebuild his life after hubris, Twitter, and an unsavory critic put the kibosh on his Los Angeles career.

Carl (Favreau) is yearning to unleash his creativity in the kitchen but his boss would prefer his staff to stick to tried and true favorites instead. After a critic disses the regular menu and Carl becomes Twitter famous for throwing a world-class temper tantrum, the ambitious chef tells the critic to drop by for round two - this time with an entirely new menu (see clip here).

It's not hard to see that this little scenario will end in disaster, and soon Carl is without a job, or any new prospects thanks to viral social media. Instead, he heads to Miami where he tries to reconnect with his son, Percy (Emjay Anthony), and opens a food truck with his ex-wife (Sofia Vergara).

Penned and directed by Favreau, the film features two well-known Avengers actors (Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson) - which isn't all to surprising considering Favreau's history - and thankfully will be devoid of any cowboys, aliens, or a combination thereof.

Chef premiered at Austin's music/film/interactive festival, South by Southwest, on Friday and will hit theaters on May 9 via Open Road Films.
