When Downton Abbey returns for its fifth season, it looks like there might be some scandal with Edith's character as she attempts to keep her baby a secret.

Lady Mary To Be Involved In New Romance?

On Monday, PBS posted a clip of the actors from the series on what they hope for their characters. Laura Carmichael, who plays Edith, dished on her character and how she hopes that Edith will actually be able to make time for her baby despite keeping the child's existence hidden.

"I hope you get to see her have some moments with the child," Carmichael said. "But at the same time, how she'll ever manage to pull that off without giving it away, I don't know."

British Actress Sarah Parish To Join The Cast?

Tom Branson also talked about his character Allen , who he hopes will become more confident in scenes involving political discussions.

"I would love to see his fire, his political fire come back," Branson said.

As for other characters, there is a possibility that Thomas will find himself a new man since his character appears to find romance every other season. According to Robert James-Collier, the actor who plays Thomas, this is a method that the series creator Julian Fellowes tends to have in each season.

"If I know Julian and his formula, full-on bromance," James-Collier said about his hope for his character next season. "...He's always been unlucky in love so it'd be nice to see him happy for once. I think he deserves it."

Downton Abbey Season 5 is expected to premiere in January 2015.
